Kathy Lockwood Obituary Waldron, Mi, Kathy Lockwood Funeral Notice

Kathy Lockwood Obituary, Death – An unexpected illness took Kathy Lynn Lockwood’s life on December 20, 2022, of Waldron, Mi, and she passed away unexpectedly at home on December 20. She was 61 years old. She was the daughter of Richard and Karen (Edinger) Fether and was born in Hillsdale on January 18th, 1961. Richard and Karen (Edinger) Fether were her parents. After graduating from Waldron High School in 1979, Kathy went on to complete her high school education at Huntington College, where she was awarded a diploma. She tied the knot with Barry Lockwood, the person she had a crush on when she was in high school, on December 28, 1985, and he is still alive today.

Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who spent her entire life caring for her family. Her devotion and attention were always directed toward her family. Two of her all-time favorite activities were taking long strolls through the woods and keeping an eye on her grandchildren. She taught science at Waldron, Camden-Frontier, and Jonesville Area Schools, where she earned a great deal of respect and admiration from her students. She was known for her ardent encouragement of her students to achieve their academic goals, and she frequently stayed after school or ate lunch with them.

This was one of the reasons why she was so well-respected. Kathy devoted her full attention to all of the activities she participated in as a volunteer, and she did so without the expectation of receiving anything in return. The varsity softball team at Waldron Area Schools was under Kathy and her husband’s direction when they won multiple district championships. Both of them were varsity softball coaches at the school. Both Kathy and her husband had tremendous amounts of success in their respective careers as coaches.

The time that she spent volunteering at the Waldron District Library was beneficial to both the robotics program at Camden-Frontier High School and the Waldron District Library. Kathy was the kind of person who was always eager to learn new things and had a never-ending curiosity about the world around her. In addition to that, she was a very good sounding board for ideas. Her competitive nature generated a lot of anecdotes and a lot of laughter whenever she played cards with her family, which was one of her most beloved activities.

Her devoted husband of 37 years, Barry Lockwood; their children, Sarah (Luke) O’Brien of Perry, Matthew (Bethany) Lockwood of Grass Lake, and Samuel (Kara) Lockwood of Seward, AK; Aiden, Collin, and Braxton Williams of Waldron; their mother, Karen Fether; sister, Denise (Veryl) Doriot of Waldron; and brother, Eric Fether are among those who are left behind to honor her memory (Dee) Both of her parents, Richard and Julie Fether, had preceded her in death: the former was her mother, and the latter was her younger sister. Her father passed away before she did.
