We are sorry to inform you of the passing of Crawford (Croft) Simpson, Seniority #23, Retired District Chief. We are deeply saddened to hear of his passing and offer our condolences. This information has been delivered to us with a heavy heart, and we apologize in advance for any difficulty it may cause.

Croft passed away on Wednesday, December 7th, at the age of 98, making him the fire department veteran who had served the department for the longest period of time and was the oldest member of the department at the time of his passing. Croft was also the oldest member of the department at the time of his passing. Croft began his career as a firefighter with the Scarborough Fire Department on June 28, 1950. He remained in that capacity until the 18th of July, 1980, when he retired from the department.

Croft served as a firefighter until he reached the age of retirement. He was able to relax and enjoy himself for the remaining 42 years of his life thanks to the freedom that retirement provided him. On behalf of all of us who have retired from the Scarborough Fire Department, I would like to offer our deepest condolences to his family and all of his friends who have suffered a recent loss of a family member or friend.”
