Marie Paul Death, Obituary – Marie Paul, Bristol Bay Native Corporation Education Foundation (BBNCEF) longtime board member and President has sadly passed away unexpectedly with loved ones, family and the entire community left heartbroken and in grievance, according to online publication. ”Marie Paul, who had served on the board of the Bristol Bay Native Corporation Education Foundation (BBNCEF) for many years and most recently held the position of President of the Board of Directors for the organization, passed away unexpectedly on December 18 in Togiak, Alaska.
The Bristol Bay Native Corporation (BBNC) and the Bristol Bay Native Corporation Education Foundation (BBNCEF) are both very saddened by her passing. Marie was a valuable member of the Bristol Bay community who had a deep dedication to elevating her Yup’ik people and preserving the diverse cultural practices of their ancestors.
Marie has been a member of the BBNC Board of Directors since 2006, and she has served as the President of the Board of Directors for the BBNC Educational Foundation since 1999. In addition to her most recent role as Coordinator of the Togiak Learning Center at the University of Alaska Bristol Bay Campus, she has, in the past, served as President of the Traditional Council of Togiak and Vice President of the Southwest Region School Board. She currently works at the University of Alaska Bristol Bay Campus.
Marie will be sorely missed by the people who live in the Togiak community and the rest of the Bristol Bay area, as well as by the employees and board members of the Bristol Bay Native Corporation (BBNC). Because of her contributions, the people in our community will always remember her in a way that cannot be erased.
