Dick Petsch Death, Obituary – Dick Petsch has sadly passed away unexpectedly with loved ones, family and the entire community left heartbroken and in grievance, according to an online publication. Richard G. “Dick” Petsch, who resided in Preston, Minnesota, passed away inside of his residence on the 16th day of December, 2022. He was 79 years old at the time of his passing. Richard George Petsch, the son of George Petsch and Margaret (Weyandt) Petsch, was born in the city of St. Paul, Minnesota, on July 10, 1943. George Petsch and Margaret (Weyandt) Petsch were his parents.
Because Dick was such a major admirer of autos, he and his friends used to make it a point to attend a wide variety of auto events all throughout the region. Dick was one of the judges for the automobile display that he had a hand in founding during the yearly celebration of Preston Trout Days. This event is held every year. In addition to volunteering with Meals on Wheels and restoring the railroad depot that was situated at the trailhead, he was a highly active part of the Preston community and served as a judge for elections.
He was also responsible for the restoration of the railroad depot. Dick has served as president of both the Preston Historical Society and the Fillmore County Historical Society, making him eligible for membership on the boards of directors of both organizations. His collection includes a large quantity of musical works and albums. He was a highly active member of his church and was a devoted adherent to the tenets of his faith. Dick is survived by his wife Cheryl Petsch of Preston, Minnesota;
Also, his children David Petsch (Elizabeth) Petsch of Lake Cormorant, Mississippi, and Heidi Torres (significant other Bruce Dewars) of Elgin, Minnesota; stepson Scott Melver (Paula) of Preston, Minnesota; grandchildren Jennifer Brobst, Jesse Petsch, Heather Karels, Cody (Kelsey) Petsch, Nate (Erica) Petsch, Taylor Torres, and Tyler Torre His grandparents George and Margaret, his parents, his brother John, his sister Kathy, and his brother-in-law Michael Schowalter all went away before he did. He was the only member of his immediate family that had made it through life.
