Colonel Williams Death, Obituary – Colonel Williams has passed away untimely and unexpectedly leaving friends, loved ones, family, and the entire community heartbroken and in grievance, according to a social media sharing. Williams, who had been suffering from cancer, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at his home in the company of his devoted family. He was born in Hartford to the late Russell Pinney and Cecile (Audet) Williams, Sr., and he resided in Hartford until he was nine years old, at which point he relocated to Bloomfield, where he remained for the next eighty years of his life.
Russ treasured every moment of his 58 years of marriage to Nina, the girl he had a crush on in high school. After serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, he returned to Bloomfield and went to work for the Town of Bloomfield. He stayed there until 1961, when he started Williams Service Center, and he worked there until 1993, when he retired. Russ and Nina traveled quite a bit together, both domestically and internationally; in particular, they spent many summers in Nantucket and Ireland.
He never failed to give his longest-standing connections in the community, as well as those that he had developed and come to value more recently, the utmost priority they deserved. Russ was a regular attendee of Sacred Heart Church in Bloomfield in addition to being a member of the Nantucket Anglers Club and the Bloomfield Fish and Game Club. The legacy that Russ leaves behind is one of a large and loving family. He is survived by his son Russell Michael Williams and his wife Dayle of Bloomfield; his daughter Kathleen Reed of West Suffield; his daughter Sheri and her husband Kevin Connelly of Bloomfield; and his daughter Kellie and her husband Edward Bassell of Ocala, Florida;
Also, his grandchildren Russell and Jennifer Williams, Meagan and Mike Cordi, Brett and Matt Dickhut, Robert and Mallory Reed, Brendan Reed and Michele Hoffmann, Declan Reed, John Connelly, Kathleen Connelly, Additionally, he is survived by his sister Linda Cullen and her husband Len, who reside in Colchester, as well as his brothers-in-law Howard Bryden and Paul Beining. In addition to his parents and his wife Nina, Russ was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Robert Reed, his two sisters Jacqueline Bryden and Gail Beining, and his son-in-law Robert Reed. On Tuesday, November 8, at 10:00 AM, a Mass of Christian Burial will be performed at Sacred Heart Church located at 26 Wintonbury Avenue in Bloomfield. This will be followed by the burial of the deceased with full military honors in Mountain View Cemetery in Bloomfield.
