Chia Leong Death, Obituary – Chia Leong has passed away untimely and unexpectedly leaving friends, loved ones, family, and the entire community heartbroken and in grievance, according to a social media sharing. When I found out that the Olympic athlete Mr. Chia Boon Leong had gone away yesterday evening, I was greatly shocked and taken aback by the news. He is 97 years old and has lived a full life. He was the only person from Singapore to ever compete in football at the Olympic level, and he did so at the 1948 Olympic Games in London, where they were held. He competed for China. This he performed while acting as a representative of China.
It was sufficient for a person to have Chinese ancestry in order for them to be picked to participate on China’s behalf at that time; they did not need to have been born in China in order to compete on China’s behalf provided they had Chinese background. He was the first person of Singaporean descent who had ever been able to achieve such a success. Since the first time I came into contact with them, his upbeat view on life and limitless zest for living had left an indelible impression on me. My heartfelt sympathies go out to his wife, Li Choo, as well as to all of their children and grandchildren. Please accept my sincere condolences.
