Greg Echols Death, Obituary – After a protracted battle with illness, MR. GREG ECHOLS, age 61, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at his home in the United States of America. His birth took place on February 4, 1961 in Chattooga County, Georgia. His parents, John B. Echols, Jr., who passed away, and Betty Morrison Bagley, who is still alive, gave birth to him. His stepmother, Pam Tauzer-Echols, passed away before him, following in the footsteps of both of his parents. Mr. Echols served as Fire Chief for ten years and was a member of the Summerville Fire Department for a total of 34 years. In addition, he was the owner and operator of Echols Appliance and a member of the Summerville First United Methodist Church.
Karen Stephenson Echols, his wife; his mother, Betty Morrison; his stepfather, Roger Bagley; their children, Matthew Bryan & Lauren Mitchell Echols, Jessica & Nathan Flood, Rachel & Drew Hamilton; their grandchildren, Jackson Berry Echols, Caroline Ann Echols, Samuel Ellis Flood; his sister, Terri & Tim Young; his brother, Jim Echols; his aunt, Honey & Dale Housch; as well as several nieces and nephews; all of these people have Funeral services will be performed on Thursday, December 22nd, at 2:00 p.m. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home. Chaplain Ronnie Cowart will preside over the ceremony, and the interment will take place at Summerville Cemetery.
Firefighters from the Summerville Fire Department will serve as the active pallbearers, and Tim Bowman, Eric Reynolds, Matt Veatch, Lamar Fowler, Tommy Dillard, Dennis Bullard, and Scott Brown will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will be present at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from six to eight o’clock to greet friends. Mr. Greg Echols, who passed away on Saturday, is being cared for by Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, which is in charge of making arrangements.
