She received her diploma from Cass Lake-Bena High School, where she was a student from the age of 17 until she graduated with her high school degree. Following that, she enrolled in and successfully completed one year of college. During that time, Kyah Lee entered the world; she would go on to become the thing that brought her the greatest amount of happiness in the years to come.

Her daughter held the utmost significance in her eyes out of everything in the entire world. Dawna found that the activities that brought her the most happiness were spending time with her loved ones, particularly her daughter and Zach, and sharing hearty laughs with those she was with. Her daughter and Zach brought her the greatest amount of happiness in particular. She was the kind of person who would go out of her way to help anyone and who would do it with a smile on her face the entire time. She was a very kind and generous person.
