Phillip Speicher Obituary, Phillip Speicher sadly passed away

Phillip Speicher Death, Obituary -Phillip R. Speicher, 82 years old, passed away at the Rolling Meadows Health and Rehabilitation Center in LaFontaine in the afternoon of Sunday, December 18, 2022, at the hour of 4:30 o’clock in the afternoon. Mr. Speicher was a resident of LaFontaine. Phillip Speicher entered this world in Wabash County, Indiana on January 9, 1940. His parents were Raymond Speicher and Charlotte (Black) Speicher.

Phillip was granted his high school graduation in the year 1958 by LaFontaine High School. On January 6, 1961, he wed Marilyn Holder in a ceremony that was attended by their families and friends. In 2005, he decided to retire early from his job at General Motors in Marion, Indiana, where he had worked for more than four decades. In addition to his roles as a Sunday School Teacher and a UAW Member in Marion, he was a member of the LaFontaine Town Board between the years 1980 and 1992. He attended services at the LaFontaine United Methodist Church on a regular basis.

Phil lived and worked with his siblings on the family farm throughout his boyhood. This was Phil’s favorite place to be. He was a tremendous sports lover and particularly enjoyed watching basketball and football. One of his favorite things to do was to sit on his front porch and watch the birds and the sunset while he watched these games. Gardening, mowing the yard, traveling on vacation with his family and friends, and simply hanging out at home were some of his other favorite things to do.

Phil possessed a profound fascination with the old toy and tractor industries, in addition to a passion for collecting LaFontaine antiques. Phillip is survived by his wife, Marilyn Speicher, who currently resides in LaFontaine, Indiana; two daughters, Denise (Gregg) Wood and Lisa Carpenter, both of which currently reside in Wabash, Indiana; five grandchildren, Tiffany Harrell of LaFontaine, Indiana, Caleb (Lauren) Carpenter of Muncie, Indiana, Kylie (Scott) Mercer of Marion, Indiana, Megan (Chris) Anderson of Columbia City, Indiana, Michael (Lauren) Wood Before he did, his parents and one of his brothers, Richard Speicher, had already gone away. He did not have any further brothers or sisters.
