Dorothy Pellerin Death, Obituary – Dorothy Pellerin has passed away untimely and unexpectedly leaving friends, loved ones, family, and the entire community heartbroken and in grievance, according to a social media sharing. Dorothy Marie “Dot” Pellerin, 82, a resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at a hospital in Lake Charles. She was surrounded by her husband and children at the time of her passing.
Dot was born on September 15, 1940, in Church Point, Alabama. She attended Church Point High School and graduated in 1959. Dot’s parents worked as sharecroppers, and she was reared in Church Point. After she graduated, she moved to Lawtell, where she eventually met her future dance partner and the love of her life, whom she later married in 1960. They had two kids and decided to transfer their family to Lake Charles when the boys were born. She began her career in the early 1970s working as a clerk at Evangeline Maid Bread.
After leaving that job, she babysat for a number of local families in her own house. After that, she started her job with CARC, first as a bus driver, then as a supervisor working for Dr. Stroud, and she stayed there until she retired in the late 1990s. After she retired, she was free to enjoy activities such as going camping in Toledo Bend and traveling with her husband, which included going on pilgrimages in other countries.
During the time that she was a mother, her family was involved in the Catholic community of St. Margaret Church, where she served as a catechist. Later on, she joined St. Martin de Porres as one of its founder members. During her time there, she was actively active in the church’s Altar Society, Bible Study, Come Lord Jesus, and Supper Club with some of her closest friends. Dot also worked for free in the workplace where she contributed her time. She belonged to the Order of St. Charles, which was associated with the Diocese of Lake Charles.
Those who are left to honor her memory are her devoted and loving husband of 62 years, James Pellerin of Lake Charles; her sons, Fr. Keith Pellerin of Jennings and Kevin Pellerin (Sissy) of Kinder; her brother, Ricky Carriere (Deanna) of Oakdale; her granddaughter, Brandi Eaves (Seth) of Kinder; Also, her grandson, Brandon Pellerin (Shelby) of Kinder; and her great-grandchildren, Marissa, and Libby She also leaves behind a large number of nieces, nephews, Godchildren, family members, and close friends, in addition to a large number of people that she adopted and raised as members of her own family.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Oschner Acadia Hospital in Crowley, Oschner Jennings American Legion Hospital in Jennings, Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, and the Lake Charles Memorial Medical Group, in particular Drs. Gerry Hebert, Gary Kohler, and Bogavalli, for the outstanding care that they provided to Dot while she was a resident at Jeff Davis Living Center, Oschner Acadia Hospital in Crowley, and Oschner Jennings American Legion They would also want to express their gratitude to everyone who has offered their sympathies and prayed for them since this tragedy occurred.
A funeral Mass is scheduled to take place at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 1:00 PM. The address of the church is 5495 Elliott Rd., Lake Charles, Louisiana 70605. The ceremony will be presided over by her son, Father Keith Pellerin.
