On December 10, 2022, Clara Bell Daniel, who resided in Amarillo, Texas, passed away at the age of 93. On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., funeral services will be performed at the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, with Josh Light serving as the officiant. The 10th of November, 1929 saw Viola Mae Day and Fredrick Lincoln Bandy welcoming their third child, Clara, into the world in Hillsboro, Texas. Clara was their only daughter. Her father worked on the family farm, while her mother stayed at home to raise the family. Due to the family’s lack of financial resources, the children spent the most of their childhood working in cotton fields. They went throughout Texas in search of work, first settling in Morton, then Leia Lake, then Friona, and finally Amarillo.
At an early age, Clara wed Bob Horner, and the couple went on to have a daughter named Linda Gayle. Clara’s life revolved on Linda, who was the center of her universe, and she eventually became a single mother struggling to make ends meet. At the time, she was employed at the Silver Grill, which is located in the downtown area of Amarillo. It was there that she met Vernon Miller, who would later become her second husband. Steven, Paul, Arnold, Edwin, and Eileen were the couple’s five children.
Together, they produced five children. The family spent their formative years working at the Bonanza Sirloin Pit, a local eatery, in any capacity was required of them. Pies were just the beginning for Clara in the restaurant; she ultimately found herself working both in the kitchen and at the register. Clara and Vernon divorced, but she continued to work there under the direction of the new administration. She was working as a cashier when she came into contact with a customer who was a used vehicle salesperson.
This man, Norman Daniel, provided financial assistance to her so that she could get a car. Soon after, he won her heart and became her final spouse. She was present at all times. And she was a wonderful role model for grandchildren! Together with her husband Norman, she cherished the opportunity to assist in the upbringing of her grandsons Zac and PJ, as well as to look after her other grandchildren whenever the parents of those children need assistance. Clara was known to put in a lot of effort. She kept herself quite occupied with her hobbies, which included gardening, sewing, and cooking.
After suffering from a few falls, Clara transferred to the Landmark of Amarillo Nursing Facility in 2018, but the time she spent there is still fondly remembered. It was not uncommon for the family to continue to congregate in the dining room or elsewhere on the property in order to have meals together and spend time with her. She took pleasure in spending time with her family, relaxing outside, and listening to music. Her parents, her husband Norman Rex Daniel, her daughter Linda Gayle Miller, her two sons Steven and Paul Miller, and her older brother William “Bill” Bandy have all passed away before her.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving family members include two sons and their wives: Arnold Miller and his wife LaDonna of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Edwin Miller and his wife Tammy of Bushland, Texas; daughter Eileen Pulliam and her husband Ron of Panhandle, Texas; younger brother Eugene Bandy and his wife Patsy of Friona, Texas; and seven grandchildren: Nathan Miller and his wife Lisa of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Alexander “Zan” Miller of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Linda Ram
